Noodle Pro Cara Sheffler tutored siblings through the SAT and AP tests. Her kindness, sense of humor, and high expectations helped a pair of siblings succeed:

“Cara began working with our older son in his sophomore year on the World History AP, on which he got a 5. His history teacher and counselor told him that the test was too broad and too hard and actively discouraged him from taking it, but he was determined to self-study.

Cara also worked with our younger son, who is a freshman in engineering at Harvey Mudd College.  She worked with our youngest on SAT prep (800 reading 740 writing 760 math – and he says to point out that the 740 was due to an on-site problem with the proctor) and the US History AP exam (5) and US History SAT II (790).

Cara is a fabulous tutor. I really cannot say enough in her favor. What I appreciated most was how she could go deep on a topic and expected her students to do the same. For example, when our oldest was studying for the World History AP his sophomore year, Cara got him up to speed on women’s history, Asian history and African history.

Cara said that one could no longer take a solely European focus if they were serious about conquering the test – and a serious student of history.  

Cara has high expectations of her students.  She assigned both our sons significant homework and held them to it. Kindness and a sense of humor with a steel backbone – exactly what we were looking for in a tutor.

I actually cannot think of a single thing that anyone would need to worry about with Cara.  We had a resoundingly positive experience with her and would work with her again in a heartbeat … if only we had more children!”
