“His Editing Work Was Spectacular And The Finished Product Was Loved By All Who Read It.”

Sunjay Dixit is an award-winning science writer and journalist, a former Senior Editor at Psychology Today and Columbia University creative writing professor, and the founder and lead instructor of The New York Writers’ Intensive. He is also a Noodle Pro with 16 years of experience working with private students on admissions essays, public speaking, creative writing, and journalism.

One such student hired Sunjay (aka Jay) when he needed help with his medical school admissions essay. He says that Jay’s expertise and teaching skills made all the difference in the very tough application process.

“Jay helped me find a narrative thread in my life story to develop a meaningful personal statement which is a crucial part of the application. He started by literally interviewing me, asking me questions about my life and the impact that certain events had on me etc. before his help I had trouble appreciating how to synthesize these seemingly disparate events and how to convey them meaningfully.

Jay was extraordinarily patient and also very reassuring in the face of my anxiety over completing this difficult and critical task. His editing work was spectacular and the finished product was loved by all who read it. I am now graduating medical school and have learned from the time we worked together how to craft a personal statement for residency programs. He also helped me practice for my interviews and offered very helpful constructive feedback. He was always very personable and professional.”
