If you’re getting ready to prepare for the SAT, one of the first things you should consider is when to actually test. Although all test dates are created equal, you should consider your own circumstances when planning which 2021 SAT tests to sit for. For example, you should consider what else you might have going on (AP tests, prom, spring break), how long you’ll have to prep, and whether you’ve met the registration deadline.
Spring 2021 SAT Dates
In general, the SAT is administered 7 times a year, primarily during the fall and spring (August, October, November, December, March, May, and June).
The remaining spring 2021 SAT test dates and 2021 SAT test deadlines are as follows:
- March 13, 2021
- Registration deadline: February 12, 2021
- Late registration deadline: March 2, 2021
- May 8, 2021
- Registration deadline: April 8, 2021
- Late registration deadline: April 27, 2021
- June 5, 2021
- Registration deadline: May 6, 2021
- Late registration deadline: May 26, 2021
Please note that if you are registering by mail, late registration deadlines are generally a week earlier. For full details, please see the College Board’s website.
Anticipated 2021-2022 SAT Dates
If you’re looking even further ahead, the following test dates are anticipated for the 2021-2022 school year. Registration for these tests will open over the summer.
- August 28, 2021
- October 2, 2021
- November 6, 2021
- December 4, 2021
- March 12, 2022
- May 7, 2022
- June 4, 2022
Since we’re living in unprecedented times, it is important to remember that nothing, including SAT dates, are set in stone. Many test dates in the spring, summer, and fall of 2020 were cancelled outright by the College Board, whereas others were held at minimum capacity. That being said, I would advise you to plan ahead and have back-up options when considering which 2021 SAT tests to take. And once you’re signed up, keep an eye out for SAT test center closings and other COVID-19 updates.
