Biography

Adam Redfield has been helping students achieve their goals for a quarter of a century. In fact, the current iteration of the SAT is the fourth version of the test he has taught. At the core of Adam’s teaching philosophy is his belief that excelling on standardized tests is not an end in itself. For a high school student, doing well on the test is a way to get into the college of his or her choice. For a middle schooler, it is a way to get into the best high school for that student. These are pivotal moments in the life of a young person. A student-centric approach is vital.

Adam hasn’t only taught the tests; he has trained at least 100 successful teachers and tutors (including his own son), and he has written and edited many books for The Princeton Review. As a father of two adult college graduates, he has also seen firsthand how daunting the college admissions process can be for parents and students. He delights in reducing his clients’ stress by demystifying the process.

Prior to his career in test prep, Adam enjoyed a notable career as a Broadway and television actor; he even won a Tony Award nomination and a Theatre World Award. One student of Adam’s did so well on his first SAT that Adam began to coach the student to audition for NYU’s drama program — one of the nation’s most competitive, and of which Adam is an alum — and, with his high SAT scores and an excellent audition, the student got in! This is the level of individual attention that Adam brings to all of his students.

Adam teaches SAT, PSAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests (Math I and Math II, U.S. History, World History, Literature), AP Tests (Government and Politics, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, U.S. History, World History, European History), ISEE (all levels), SSAT (all levels), and SHSAT.
