Biography

Brandon was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. He graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Immunology, & Molecular Genetics and received his medical degree from Stanford Medical School. Currently, Brandon is a resident physician specializing in ophthalmology at the #1 ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.

Brandon has a long history of helping students achieve their academic potential. Since 2010, he has tutored high school students in math, chemistry, biology, and physics. After scoring in the 99.9th percentile on his own SAT, Brandon has helped countless students succeed various standardized tests, including the SAT/ACT, AP Exams, and SAT Subject Tests. Brandon’s former students have gone on to attend institutions such as Stanford, Harvard, and Penn.

In college, Brandon was hired as an undergraduate chemistry tutor by his university, where he was one of only a select few students to receive multiple nationally competitive, merit-based scholarships, including the Goldwater Scholarship and Gina M. Finzi Fellowship. Before joining Noodle Pros, Brandon worked for several years at a large national test prep company, where he taught a variety of standardized exams, with a focus on the science sections of the new MCAT (i.e. Bio/Biochem, Chem/Phys, Psych/Soc). There, he gained hundreds of hours of experience providing live and live-online instruction in both one-on-one and small group settings. Brandon scored in the 99th percentile on his own MCAT.

At Stanford Medical School, Brandon maintained an active tutoring schedule, working with students both in live-online and in-person settings in Silicon Valley. As a medical student, Brandon published over a dozen scientific research papers in peer-reviewed journals and was invited to present his original research findings at various local, national, and international conferences for ophthalmology. He consistently performed at the highest level in medical school, receiving honors grades in all 3rd- and 4th-year clinical clerkships.

Brandon understands the strengths and weaknesses of resources from different test prep companies and takes pride in tailoring sessions to students’ unique needs. He realizes that succeeding in high-stakes standardized exams, such as the MCAT, often requires more than just a strong understanding of content, but rather a diverse repertoire of reliable test-taking strategies and behaviors that will consistently lead to the correct answer. Brandon knows firsthand that with the right resources and support, any student can achieve their target score. Through years of experience, Brandon has developed an intuitive understanding of standardized assessments and the test-taking strategies needed to raise scores quickly and efficiently.
