Biography

To Caleb, teaching is a human act first and foremost. He strives to be insightful and articulate in the human elements – confidence, motivation, expectations, rapport – as much as the subject matter at hand. He does not consider teaching as an opportunity to display one’s own expertise, focusing rather on the student’s whereabouts and progress. “What is your relationship to this subject matter?” “What part of this is easy for you, and what part of this is difficult?” “Do you feel that your approach has changed, or is it about the same?” These are some of the questions you can expect from your time with Caleb.

Having graduated from Williams College magna cum laude with a degree in Biology and currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with chaplaincy in mind, Caleb brings a dual sharpness in STEM and humanities as well as in standards and warmth.

It is Caleb’s belief that the best teachers are those who remain students themselves. When students work with Caleb, they don’t work alone – he crafts his explanations from the student point of view and tackles problems with them in parallel so that his approach, habits, and errors are accessible (and thus useful) to his students. Caleb will fight for and go the distance with his students no matter their starting point.
