Biography
One-on-one academic work should be rigorous and fun. My job as tutor is to help one student at a time achieve her or his academic goals. But I also have the opportunity to help set those goals, and I make sure that they are big, ambitious ones. I have high standards for my students, but they will always know that I am invested in helping them exceed even their own expectations. I specialize in close reading and expository writing, and work best with ambitious students. My strong academic background in English and American Literature, History, and writing has lead to a focus on the essay-based AP courses in English Literature and Language, US and European History, and Government, as well as College Applications, or whatever needs to be written. I like working with younger or less advanced students, too, and believe that close attention to reading and writing skills serves students well throughout their academic and professional lives. I also teach test-taking skills, problem solving, and logic, and have been successful assisting students who seem to have mastery of the content, but struggle to demonstrate their knowledge on tests. If a student thinks she or he is a \bad tester,” I can probably help.
