Biography

Jackie Kristel is a Master Teacher and Private Tutor with over 15 years experience available to work with both primary and early childhood students, including those applying to pre-k; enrolled in pre-k; applying for kindergarten and already in kindergarten. A native New Yorker, Jackie is a graduate of the Horace Mann School, holds degrees from Vassar College and Columbia University, and recently enrolled in the leadership program at the Bank Street’s Graduate School of Education. Jackie has worked with students preparing for upcoming private school admissions throughout her career, offering assistance with alphabet recognition, handwriting, math, reading readiness, test preparation and problem-solving skills. Jackie has also assisted children in primary grades with executive functioning, reading, writing, math and homework help in all other subjects.

Jackie spent time studying in Reggio-Emilia and is trained as a classroom teacher in Handwriting without Tears and Sounds in Motion. Throughout her career, Jackie has been integral in preparing children for the most prestigious schools in Manhattan. Using both familiar and unfamiliar “games,” Jackie makes learning necessary skills fun for her students. Her methods also teach students to approach new tasks with ease and confidence, preparing them for success in interviews and the classroom setting.

For the past eleven years, Jackie has been a very popular head teacher at one of the most prestigious Nursery Schools in Manhattan. Her early professional career started at Kidville as a teacher and manager of early childhood development in Manhattan. She has also been instrumental in opening other daycares and mommy & me programs as well as after school programs.

Jackie Kristel’s professional teaching career, while distinguished in its own right, began much earlier in her life as she is the eldest, by ten years, of seven siblings. Jackie’s love of teaching developed by working with her siblings and led her to an understanding of how different children learn using their own strengths. In her limited free time, Jackie has headlined cabaret shows as a singer, is on the board of One Year Lease Theater Company (OYL), which she helped found in 2001. Additionally, she is the Apprentice Program Producer and Youth Theatrical Director of OYL’s summer theater program in Greece. Jackie lives in Manhattan with her husband Avram (also a professional educator), her step-child Al and their dog Beau.
