11 Years Tutoring

Kevin Shea is a smart, funny, and engaging tutor who knows how to help students maximize their scores and their academic skills. Born and raised in Queens, New York, he benefited from standardized test skills at an early age when he won admission to Manhattan’s elite Hunter College High School. Kevin was awarded a merit scholarship to Boston University, where he earned a dual degree (with honors) in Psychology and Economics in 2010. He spent the next year working for the New York City Civic Corps at the Brooklyn Public Library, helping to administer its popular T4 (Today’s Teens, Tomorrow’s Techies) tutoring and volunteer program.

Kevin has professionally tutored tests and academic subjects for the last decade—based in New York, but digitally tutoring international students, and venturing overseas or out of state for intensive programs. Over that time, he’s expanded from an SAT background into all the most common standardized tests; he enjoys learning more deeply about varied subjects in order to bring that knowledge to his students.

Kevin takes pride in his ability to help students modify and fine-tune test behaviors to raise test scores. When knowing the material isn’t enough, Kevin pushes his students the rest of the way with a smarter process.

Kevin’s years of full-time tutoring at an upscale New York firm afforded him thousands of hours of experience with students ages 10 to 26, in subjects from SSAT to LSAT, and at all score levels. This experience has made him an expert, intuitive tutor, but now he is pleased to be part of the fun and collaborative culture at Noodle Pros.

His test prep tutoring students have attended Harvard Kennedy School, Stanford School of Business, MIT Sloan School of Management, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, NYU School of Law, and many other prestigious universities.

Kevin is currently engaged in a quixotic attempt to read the entire internet. When he can, he stage manages live theater productions. He considered including home cuisine tutoring in his profile, but decided against it. He’s a polymath who knows but one language. He’s great at Jeopardy, except for the categories about history, geography, or the arts.
