Kristin Michaelson

Kristin has worked with students, teachers, and parents for 15+ years. She works directly with students of many ages through executive functioning tutoring, general academic tutoring, and test preparation. Kristin’s specialties in academic tutoring include reading, writing, and math. She has much experience tutoring early childhood and elementary students for school entrance exams such as: AABL, ECAA, WPPSI, ISEE, Hunter Gifted & Talented, and New York City Gifted & Talented. In addition, Kristin is well-versed in the Kindergarten interview process and prepares children for these school visits as well.

Kristin’s experience includes working as a classroom teacher, in addition to teaching small groups and tutoring. She has an engaging yet professional work style that enables her to make important progress with students, while still forming a solid rapport with both student and parents. With her foundation in Early Childhood Education, Kristin appreciates the importance of the social-emotional component in the learning process. She has worked with students with a variety of learning differences and strives to make sessions developmentally appropriate, engaging, and focusing on the student’s best learning styles.

Outside of working with students, Kristin trains preschool teachers in Early Childhood Development and Education. Recent projects include working as the Interim Learning Specialist at a private school in Hoboken, NJ focusing on Pre-K through 8th grade learning interventions. Kristin also spent time coaching teachers in NYC public school preschool programs and in Bronx charter schools working on literacy tutoring with at-risk elementary students.
