Biography
Luke was born in New York City and attended The Dalton School from K-12. He then attended Sarah Lawrence College where, after concentrating in composition and classical guitar, he discovered his passion for philosophy during his junior year. After deciding to pursue a career in academia, he spent three semesters at Brandeis University receiving an MA in philosophy and was subsequently accepted to UT Austin’s PhD program — a program which ranks among the best in the country.
Luke has helped a wide range of students achieve success in middle/high school and college humanities curriculum, college applications, and standardized test preparation. Many of his high school students have gone on to attend Ivy League and top tier universities/liberal arts colleges. Luke sees his mission as making a tangible impact on a student’s academic success while also trying to impart practical skills and a passion for learning and thinking that will stay with the student long after the end of their formal working relationship. Luke’s path to finding his passion in life was rather circuitous and he has a deep understanding of the difficulties that many students face when they are confronted with endless streams of schoolwork that don’t seem to serve an immediate purpose. Luke will motivate students by helping them see how their daily work fits into their big picture goals and showing them how to enjoy the process.
