Biography

Taylor has been helping students achieve their admissions test goals since 2016. She believes in a three-factor approach that emphasizes mastery of exam content, test-taking strategies, and familiarity with the test itself. Combining her strong sense of empathy and years of unique and varied experience, Taylor works with her students to create individualized preparation plans that ensure they maximize existing strengths while learning new skills. By providing her students an active role in the planning process, she helps them build confidence and decision-making skills – both of which are vital to competitive test-taking.

Some of Taylor’s favorite pieces of feedback from her tutoring families and students:
“My thanks for the great partnership and excellent tutoring!” – Camille M. (mother of student)
“Thank you so much for your help over the last few months, it made a big improvement!” – Lacy C. (increased math SAT score from a 580 to a 780)
“I’m really happy with my score…thank you for everything!” – Kylie P. (increased ACT composite score by 7 points)

Taylor tutors for a variety of exams including the SAT, ACT, SHSAT, SSAT, and ISEE, as well as academic support for K-undergrad math/ELA subjects. She has worked with families from an array of backgrounds, giving her experience working with students of diverse skill sets, learning styles, and goals. In addition to working with students herself, Taylor also has several years’ experience training other teachers and tutors in SAT and SHSAT test preparation and developing curriculum for the SAT, ACT, and SHSAT.

A Texas native, Taylor’s K-12 years were dedicated to achieving high performance in both academics and the performance arts, success she felt compelled to share with others. Taylor first discovered the joy of teaching in the 4th grade when she was selected to help kindergarten students improve their reading. A few years later, she started assisting classes at her local dance studio and was teaching her own programs by 16. By the end of high school, her passion for the arts won out, and she went on to earn a BFA (with honors) in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in both dance and acting from Sam Houston State University. She moved to New York after graduation and almost immediately secured a position teaching test-preparation courses. She quickly earned a promotion to the office team, where she has been privileged to learn the test prep industry from the inside out. In her spare time, she enjoys writing poetry, solving puzzles, and developing and performing in cabarets.
